Mill Gate’s spooktacular Halloween

Everyone enjoyed a spooktacular day of fearsome fun at Mill Gate’s Horrible Halloween event today (Tuesday 23 October).

Youngsters looked terrifying in their Halloween outfits perfect for the occasion. Brianna Jay age 9 and Blake Leuchas age 5 won the fancy dress competition in the morning for their fantastic outfits. There was lots of great walkabout entertainment including a mobile Zombie Disco, and a witch and her scary Venus flytraps.

Rowan the Red Witch and her wicked friend Esmerelda the Green Witch roamed around Mill Gate meeting shoppers and posing for selfies.There was offbeat comedy from Bread and Butter Zombies, who got shoppers dancing to the ghoulish beats from their mobile disco. Hundreds of youngsters enjoyed making witches hats, bats, wands and Venus flytrap puppets and other Halloween craft at a free workshop at the event.

There was slapstick comedy from Belladonna, the witch who chased Aristotle the batty bluebottle around trying to feed him to her very large and very hungry Venus flytraps. Daring youngsters enjoyed feeding the deadly plants too. Mill Gate manager Marie Gribben said: “Halloween is always such a popular occasion at Mill Gate. It was lovely to see so many fantastic Halloween outfits today, everyone made such an effort.”
